“What would happen if they ever overturned Roe?”
“What would change if they ever defunded Planned Parenthood?”
Remember asking yourself those questions?
Many of our center’s supporters thought those two things would never happen. And if they did, it would mean the end of abortion … our work would be over, I’d be out of a job, and we could all do a victory lap.
Instead, I am convinced that our work is more important than ever.

We are now at that critical moment. Roe is over, the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” (OBBBA) has passed, and Planned Parenthood is by definition defunded. It’s time to take a serious look at some of the blessings, implications, and challenges ahead.
Tweet This: Pregnancy help is more important than ever now that the One Big Beautiful Bill has passed.
First, the OBBBA does help to devastate Planned Parenthood.
Yes, there will be the expected court challenges and delays. And the defunding is for only one year. But the cuts will have their effect.
The day after the bill was signed the Planned Parenthood PAC website read, President Trump and Congress have "defunded" Planned Parenthood.1
Now we know this is a fundraising ploy, but we’ve also learned that 20 Planned Parenthood locations have already been shuttered, with as many as 200 more to be closed, owing at least in part to the impending defunding.2
Great news, right? Yes.
Sadly, the good news is diminished by the reality that abortion pills are now the method of choice for women and account for nearly 65% of all abortions, with some estimates higher.
What is replacing those 200 abortion centers is far darker and more sinister. With less need for a “brick and mortar” abortion facility, the online pill predators are filling the void. As Planned Parenthood loses funds, an increasing number of predatory abortion sites hold an even tighter grip on the market.
It reminded me of this passage from Matthew 12:
43 “When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. 44 Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. 45 Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first …”
Three years ago, if I looked up “abortion pills online” I might have found two, maybe three listings: Hey Jane, Plan C, and little else. Search those words today and you’ll find pages of links from cottage industry sites ready to sell abortion pills in every state, regardless of each state’s laws.
These predator sites have found the house “clean and swept and unoccupied” and are multiplying. They are literally competing with each other, offering discount pricing and expedited shipping - all to reach your client.
Despite the known risks to women’s health, their goal is to make abortion as accessible as Tylenol. All it takes is a credit card.
And if this weren’t dark enough, the Satanists are cashing in as well.
Last month The Satanic Temple proudly announced the opening of its third abortion pill location.
“The President’s Yuge Most Beautiful Tremendous Satanic Abortion Clinic,”3 the satanic group mocks the president and the OBBBA.
The expansion of this twisted “telehealth provider” reveals the dark agenda behind the abortion agenda.
The “Satanic Abortion Clinics” operate outside state laws and restrictions by reframing abortion as a religious act. Women ordering the pills are invited to engage in a “Satanic Abortion Ritual”4 in which the mother recites the core tenants of The Satanic Temple and then proclaims the “destruction ritual” while swallowing the pills which will take the life of her unborn child: “By my body, my blood. By my will, it is done.”
The total cost for the abhorrent abortion ritual? Just $91. God help us.
Second, the OBBBA will impact Medicaid and SNAP. Details are emerging to bring more clarity, but social media is proving an effective tool to create alarm and spread fear and falsehoods.
Many of our clients will raise concerns about their medical bills and ability to feed their families. Many will panic and believe abortion is the best answer, especially if they are undocumented.
We need to be ready with answers.
The impact differs state to state and most of the changes won’t go into effect until December 2026, so now is the time to do our homework and make meaningful adjustments that will meet the emerging needs.
OBBBA will mean changes. Some are welcome and long overdue. Some will bring challenges that will test our resolve and our vision.
The abortion landscape is changing, and we must change too. Prayerfully consider how your center will choose to move forward with vital strategies like these:
- Commit to increasing your advertising budget. Reach women who are seeking to order abortion online.
- Gather the facts about abortion pill providers and how they operate.
- Dig into your state’s Medicaid and SNAP changes and how they will impact your clientele. Become an expert in the emerging needs of your moms and dads.
- Expand and advertise your maternal health and wellness services. Consider adding or expanding STD testing and treatment as well as other services or testing that adds value to each appointment.
- Revise your referral list and build relationships with church run food banks, language services, and referrals for financial aid.
- Be aware that when abortion activists are angered, our centers are targets. Be prepared for negative reviews, vandalism, and protests.
This is our time!
The lawyers, courts, and Members of Congress have done their jobs. They’ve landed the first two punches. It’s our turn now to fill the void and land the final punch. It’s a truly exciting time to be part of this work!
Pregnancy help centers like ours must “occupy the space” that is before us. Winning the abortion fight depends on our response.
This is our moment. Our supporters need to know that we must be equipped for such a time as this. Be bold in your messaging so as to not let your supporters become complacent. Their investment is more important than ever.
We can and we will continue to be there for women and meet their needs.
