This week, we witnessed a historic moment for the cause of life. The president signed into law what he proudly called the “One, Big, Beautiful Bill”—a sweeping funding package that, among many other things, removes taxpayer dollars from Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers.
For decades, Americans who value life have asked: Why are our tax dollars going to organizations that end it? Republicans in the House and Senate answered that call with courage and clarity to make this moment possible.
Predictably, the headlines are charged. Critics are quick to foist the claim that women are being abandoned. Fear-mongering has long been a tool of the abortion industry and its confederates. But let me be clear: Nothing could be further from the truth. Women are not being cast aside—their path is being cleared for better, more life-affirming options.

Contrary to popular rhetoric, Planned Parenthood is not the only provider of health services for women. In fact, there are thousands of Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) across the country offering everything from prenatal care and cancer screenings to well-woman exams—all at low or no cost, regardless of a woman’s ability to pay. These centers outnumber Planned Parenthood locations by a factor of more than 15 to 1.
And beyond the FQHCs, there is a nationwide network of pregnancy help organizations, like those connected through Heartbeat International, working every day to ensure women are not only seen, but served and supported. Through this network, we walk alongside women through some of their most vulnerable moments. We provide free pregnancy testing, ultrasounds, parenting classes, referrals for critical needs like housing and ongoing material assistance.
Pregnancy help is built on compassion, not commerce. Unlike abortion providers, we don’t profit from a woman’s decision. We empower her to make a truly informed choice—one that incorporates her vision for the future and includes life-giving resources and hope-filled alternatives.
This bill is not about restricting care; it’s about restoring true care. It takes Big Abortion’s heavy thumb off the scales and puts taxpayer dollars to work in places that supports both mother and child. And it’s a call to action for every community to step up, to come alongside, and to ensure that no woman ever feels that abortion is her only option.

For more than 50 years, the pregnancy help movement has responded to this need. We are ready to respond in this moment as well. Ready to serve. Ready to support. Ready to help women not just choose life, but thrive in it.
It is time for more neighbors, churches, medical professionals, and local leaders to join us in surrounding her with life-affirming care. Together, we can create a culture where women are strengthened, children are cherished, and life is truly celebrated.
