(National Right to Life News) I discussed yesterday how it was absolutely predictable that the #1 abortion provider would go to court to sue the Trump Administration over the “Big, Beautiful Bill” which stops taxpayer funding of the Abortion industry for one year.
Equally predictable was that PPFA would go judge shopping and find someone—US District Judge Indira Talwani was the chosen one—appointed by a reliably pro-abortion president—in this case former President Barack Obama—to temporarily put the law on hold for 14 days. Furthermore, Judge Talwani “ordered the Department of Health and Human Services to file any opposition to a longer-lasting injunction by July 14,” according to Reuters.
Are you surprised? Not that Planned Parenthood would want continued access to hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars.

But surprising, as John Sexton noted yesterday in that
It has been less than two weeks since the Supreme Court ruled that South Carolina could block Medicaid reimbursements to Planned Parenthood. …
So today Planned Parenthood sued the federal government arguing that it could not cut them off from Medicaid reimbursements. …
And in a matter of hours the Boston judge who got this case, Judge Indira Talwani, put in place a temporary restraining order blocking a provision of the bill that congress just passed and President Trump just signed.
So, what is “the true design of the Defund Provision,” according to Planned Parenthood? “Simply to express disapproval of, attack, and punish Planned Parenthood, which plays a particularly prominent role in the public debate over abortion.”
As I mentioned yesterday—that PPFA is being punished because it merely “plays a particularly prominent role in the public debate over abortion”– is ludicrous on its face.

We’ll see how far Judge Talwani gets with her injunction. I’m guessing not far at all.
