Regret is often the response for a woman after she takes the abortion pill. If her circumstances led her to believe she had no other choice than abortion, an overwhelming darkness can set in, and once she does take the pill, she frantically searches for some light – and hope.
Like many women, Sierra was desperate to reverse the decision she had made to start a chemical abortion. And like so many before her she found help and hope with Abortion Pill Reversal.
Sierra was a mom of four who was separated from her husband when she met another man. Her sister had recently passed away, and she was overcome with grief.
When she learned she was pregnant she panicked.
“I never thought I would question having an abortion,” Sierra said.

Scared and uncertain, she made her way to the nearest Planned Parenthood. She recalled walking into a room with about 25 other women like herself - facing a pregnancy they were not planning.
The darkness began to close in around her before she even sat down.
She described the room as “quiet” and “comparable to a funeral.”
One young woman was crying softly, Sierra recalled.
She had a moment where she felt she should tell the stranger, “You don’t have to do this.” But then she reminded herself she was about to do the same thing.
Then it was Sierra’s turn to be seen. She took the first abortion pill in front of the staff member, who explained to her it would stop the baby’s heartbeat.
She had immediate regret about taking the pill, Sierra said, disclosing that she even wanted to cut it out of her throat.
Before Sierra had a chance to express her concern to the Planned Parenthood staff, she said she was handed the next dose of pills and rushed out of the abortion facility.
Sierra started her car and cried, “What did I just do?”
The darkness seemed to be taking its grip.
She began praying that God would provide a sign for her to find a way to make this nightmare end.
As she pulled her car out of the parking lot, there was a sign alongside the road.
It was a sign for Abortion Pill Reversal (APR) that had been placed outside of the abortion center by a pro-life sidewalk advocate. It read: “If you took the first pill, it is not too late.”
“There’s my sign,” Sierra told herself.
In that instant, she felt hope.
Sierra pulled over and called the number from the sign.
The person who answered had “the sweetest voice,” Sierra said, and not only did she give Sierra the information she needed, pointing her to a pregnancy help center that administers APR, she also asked if she could pray for her.
The first pill in a chemical abortion, mifepristone, decreases the progesterone in the pregnancy, starving the unborn child of necessary nutrients. The second pill, misoprostol, taken a day or so later, causes uterine contractions to make the mother deliver her deceased child.
If a woman acts quickly enough after taking the first chemical abortion pill it may be possible to save her unborn child with APR, an updated application of a treatment used for decades top combat miscarriage. APR entails prescribing progesterone, the natural hormone in a woman’s body necessary to sustain pregnancy, to counter the abortion drug. Statistics show that to date more than 7,000 lives have been saved by the Abortion Pill Rescue® Network (APRN) .

The APRN consists of more than 1,000 healthcare professionals, pregnancy centers, hospitals and pharmacies that administer the APR protocol.
The ultrasound Sierra received when she went to a pregnancy help center after speaking with the APRN nurse day revealed a heartbeat. Sierra said she thanked Jesus and was overwhelmed with gratitude for APR. The progesterone treatment successfully reversed the mifepristone.
Sierra told her shared her story with Heartbeat International, which manages the APRN. She said that two lives were saved by the sign that was planted in the ground outside the abortion center that Sierra entered that day, along with many prayers, and the APRN.
“This was not just about saving the baby’s life,” Sierra said. “It was about saving my life.”
Sierra’s daughter was born the following fall. Sierra has only gratitude for the APRN, as she describes the little girl, now a toddler, as a “ball of energy.”
“I can’t imagine life without her,” Sierra said. “I needed her. We both did.”
