It was a moment I’ll always remember, when a unique voice I had heard for many years on the radio was speaking to me live and in the flesh. It was as if being introduced to a long-time friend for the first time. That voice, that friend, was none other than Dr. James Dobson.
Dr. Dobson wrote many books on parenting that made their way into my personal library. But it was his consistent presence on the radio and the ministry he built, Focus on the Family, that has been a huge influence in our family and a tremendous blessing in the ministry of pro-life pregnancy help. Dr. Dobson both inspired and facilitated pregnancy help centers, maternity homes, and adoption services all over the country and around the world.

His consistent, principled championing of life powered many a leader to reach farther, do more, and stay faithful in the process.
And his advocacy was not abstract; he spoke at Heartbeat Conferences, meeting those on the front lines, offering encouragement, guidance, and practical wisdom. Through those interactions, he lived out a deep, unwavering commitment to the sanctity of human life.
His ministry—through Focus on the Family, Family Talk, and the Dr. James Dobson Family Institute—consistently championed life in both word and action. He empowered pregnancy help centers, maternity homes, and adoption services to reach farther, serve more, and remain faithful in the sometimes-difficult work of protecting life and supporting families. He demonstrated that defending life is not only a moral imperative but a ministry of love, compassion, and service.
