Pregnancy Help News celebrates 10 years

Pregnancy Help News Managing Editor Lisa Bourne and founding columnist Kirk Walden announce the celebration of 10 years of Pregnancy Help News/Heartbeat International

Pregnancy Help News is observing 10 years of serving as the news site for Heartbeat International and the global pregnancy help community.

Heartbeat is the largest network of pregnancy help organizations both in the United States and the world. The pregnancy help network founded Pregnancy Help News in 2015 to keep the pregnancy help movement apprised of news affecting pregnancy help.

Not long after, the NIFLA v. Becerra case concerning forced pro-abortion speech for pregnancy centers arose. The unjust Reproductive FACT Act enacted by California in 2015 was struck down the U.S. Supreme Court in 2018. This was the first major news item for Pregnancy Help News, which kept the movement up to date on this legislation that would have dramatically changed the pregnancy help landscape.

But aside from the need to report on developments affecting pregnancy help, the truth of pregnancy help was getting lost in the pro-life narrative so often dominated by political actions and issues.

Positive pregnancy help milestones such as the first million clients served by the 24-7 life-affirming contact center Option Line and the first thousand babies saved by Abortion Pill Reversal and other good stories needed more awareness.

Pregnancy Help News was the answer, working to inform, educate, celebrate and uplift the pregnancy help movement, for the pregnancy help community, but also for the broader pro-life movement and the public at-large.

No matter the political, legislative, or legal climate before or after Roe v. Wade or Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health, pro-life losses or gains, or any other development pertaining to the life issue, the pregnancy help movement has simply moved forward, doing what it does all the time, serving women and families - and having endless amazing stories of lives saved and changed.

It’s this enduring commitment to serving women, children, and families on the part of the pregnancy help movement that has driven Pregnancy Help News since the first article was published in January 2015.

Pregnancy Help News’s celebration of 10 years was announced at Heartbeat International’s 2025 Annual Pregnancy Help Conference in Birmingham, Ala. Founding columnist Kirk Walden joined Managing Editor Lisa Bourne to offer Heartbeat Conference participants a look at the early days and circumstances around the founding of Pregnancy Help News, with Jay Hobbs as Managing Editor, who was followed by Managing Editor Katie Franklin.

Bourne and Walden then walked through how Pregnancy Help News has served in the last five-plus years with breaking news, commentary, and feature articles covering everything from how pregnancy help persisted during the COVID-19 virus, the leak and release of the landmark Dobbs decision, the myriad attacks of violence and vandalism on pregnancy help since, along with the continued legislative, legal, and censorship assaults and public relations offensives. Pregnancy Help News has brought readers good news updates on highpoints for Option Line and Abortion Pill Reversal, awarding of Unplanned Movie Scholarships, Heartbeat’s Babies Go to Congress, and more.

Bourne discussed different growth elements for Pregnancy Help News and developments in delivering content to the news site’s readers.

Content production has more than doubled since the beginning of Pregnancy Help News, and its articles are regularly reprinted by other outlets. The number of Pregnancy Help News writers has grown considerably and the roster of reprint sources expanded significantly. Pregnancy Help News readership has also grown notably, and it’s a devoted audience, with page views and email digest open rates markedly higher than the industry standard.

The Pregnancy Help News website was refreshed for readers in 2023, and the Pregnancy Help News Brief podcast recapping the top stories for each month was introduced in March 2024.

Bourne and Walden reminded Conference attendees to submit story ideas via PregnancyHelpnews.com to have a hand in Pregnancy Help News championing the good stories about pregnancy help.
