The maxim that abortion should be “safe, legal, and rare” is but an echo from the past as abortion proponents now unify in making abortion dangerous, unregulated, and more common.
Abortion-promoting U.S. attorneys general and other elected officials, abortion activist medical organizations, and legacy media, in lockstep with the the abortion industry, seek to further expand abortion access and quash life-affirming alternatives through litigation, political action, and public campaigns.
This Big Abortion team promotes unregulated abortion harmful to women while simultaneously working to suppress support and services available through pregnancy help medical clinics.
They claim that without so-called abortion rights women will not keep their status in society. Their twisted argument is that women must sacrifice the “burdens” of motherhood, children, and family to have a place in the world.
But the reality is that those who seek to control and abuse women are empowered by abortion without limits, which also lines the pockets of the abortion industry.
The illusion of a fast answer to unplanned pregnancy is peddled by Big Abortion, while they work to block women and families’ access to support and actual choice.
The abortion industry capitalizes on the indecision often associated with unplanned pregnancy and plays upon the fears of women in order to sell abortion passed off as a quick fix.

An unwanted choice
Despite pro-abortion rhetoric denying that women can experience remorse during or following their abortions, the truth is that women commonly experience abortion regret.
Nearly 70% of abortions are coerced, unwanted or inconsistent with a woman’s preferences, according to a study published in the medical journal Cureus.
The Elliot Institute also reports more than 60% of women who had abortions reported high levels of pressure to abort from one or more sources.
The Lozier Institute similarly found that 60% of women would have preferred to give birth rather than abort if they had received more support from others or had more financial security.
Negative psychological outcomes from abortion
Life struggles and other influences weigh heavily in a pregnancy decision. Pressure to abort is strongly associated with negative mental health outcomes.
The American Psychological Association’s Task Force on Mental Health and Abortion noted factors that put women at the highest risk of more severe psychological problems following an abortion. Perceived pressure to undergo an unwanted abortion is at the top of that list.
In a study conducted by Support After Abortion, 34% of women said their outlook of themselves or their decision changed negatively since their abortions.
Abortion regret and grief can include sadness, guilt, or remorse. While some women report initial relief, others experience negative emotions like grief, shame, or depression, for many years.
Abortion regret is real, not uncommon, and often immediate
One study, on experience with chemical abortion, showed that it is “not a matter of course for a woman’s decision to be absolute when she arrives at the clinic.”
“Health personnel have learned that the decision to terminate a pregnancy might be challenging and that some women may change their minds,” the study said further.
Abortion workers in that study related examples of women ingesting the abortion medication and then immediately attempting to make themselves vomit.
Another study found that 44% of women regretted their decision to have an abortion. Women in the study reported emotional issues like depression, feelings of loss, shame, and even discomfort being around babies following their abortions. Of these women, 42% said the negative psychological effects lasted for 10 years or more.
Chemical abortion increases the trauma
Compounded by the isolating circumstances of chemical abortion, which is now estimated to be 70-80% of all U.S. abortions, the risk of trauma for women is increasing.
Women now self-administer most abortions at home and are left to oversee their own medical care. During the several days it takes to complete the abortion women also may not have access to emotional support during what might be a dark and distressing experience.
The Support After Abortion research revealed the current dire reality of abortion, in that “having the responsibility for managing an abortion and disposing of the remains can be extremely distressing. Administering their own abortions also can be an isolating and traumatic experience for women.”
Abortion by force
While the abortion industry is busy self-righteously touting false choices for women, many women have the abortion decision imposed upon them. The trauma of coercion added to the abortion experience becomes just another element in the dehumanizing of women by abortion.
As abortion pill chemicals become more readily obtained by men and women alike through unregulated online abortion merchants, they are now also used as means of control and coverup to crimes against women.
Abortion is now easily available through an abortion cartel, delivered to doorsteps anywhere in the world. Women are now being poisoned in their food or drinks by an abusive family member or “friend” who made the abortion decision for them. Most would not have known the loss was not a miscarriage until the abuser admits the crime or is somehow caught in the poisoning.
Abortion wipes out crime evidence
Tragically, one in 20 women in the United States has experienced a pregnancy from rape, sexual coercion, or both during their lifetime. Some abusers use abortion as a tool to destroy evidence of the crime of an assault. With the vast majority of abortions occurring in the privacy of a home, the woman is without an advocate to protect her from this secondary violence of an abortion.
Abortion profits those who traffic and pimp women
Trafficking and the exploitation of women through prostitution are not necessarily crimes of physical force but instead of manipulation and coercion.
This type of abuse is not carried out with physical chains – rather often emotional and psychological chains. Survivors have been leading these conversations for years and explain that abusers master the tactics of control such as:
- manipulation and brainwashing
- threats of reputational harm
- image-based blackmail
- drug-based coercion
Abortion increases trauma for the victims of abuse
A survey of women who became pregnant through sexual assault, revealed that abortion was not helpful or beneficial to their emotional or physical health.
- Nearly 80 percent shared that they now believe that abortion had been the wrong solution
- Most expressed that the abortion only increased the trauma they were experiencing
- Most faced strong pressure or demands to abort and in some especially teenage girls, were even forced by others to have the abortion
- In cases of incest, abortion was frequently chosen by the perpetrator to cover up the incest and the victim rarely, if ever, had a say in the matter
- None of the women who gave birth to a child conceived in sexual assault expressed regret or wished they had aborted instead
The solution to these crimes is not abortion, but rather the prosecution of the perpetrator. The victims deserve compassionate care so that they can obtain the physical, psychological, and emotional healing they need.
Chemical abortion exacerbates trauma
Chemical abortion, now the most common type of abortion worldwide, creates unique circumstances that perpetuate trauma. These can include:
- Pre-existing mental or physical conditions go unassessed
- Abortion occurs in a safe place (bedroom or bathroom)
- Women more likely to be alone for the abortion
- The location of loss cannot be avoided in future
- The blame cannot be attributed to the abortionist
- The abortion bleeding and pain is markedly worse than expected owing to the experience often being minimized by abortion proponents
- The reality of loss can be immediate, especially if the child is seen
- Women will at times need to choose disposal of remains of their children
- Continued fear of legal persecution in states where abortion is limited
Abortion apologists are invested in protecting chemical abortion as a lucrative mode of abortion delivery.
The increase in inquiries for Abortion Pill Reversal (APR) worldwide indicates there is commonly regret for women after starting an abortion. Each month more than 200 women start the APR protocol through the Abortion Pil Rescue Network.

Men negatively affected by abortion
Trauma for men is also a reality following abortion.
Research is also showing some men are deeply impacted by abortion, regardless of their personal views on abortion.
Many men experience depression, anger, regret, grief, and other emotions - whether or not they were part of an abortion decision.
Families are looking for real solutions, not just a pill
Women who start an abortion often report that they never wanted to hurt their children. Pressure, influences in their life, and desire to solve a problem fed into the quick decision as they searched for a solution, support and hope.
Women often abort due to:
- Moments of emotional desperation
- A desire to preserve relationships perceived as valuable
- An instinct to care for current children while having limited resources
- Promises of support from others not viewed as trustworthy
In 2025 abortion proponents are panicked as the truth about their revenue-centered industry publicly unfolds. They want those who value life to sit down and be quiet, to “stay in our own lane” and to look the other way while they continue to harm women and extinguish life.
But pregnancy help is the hope and support that women and families need.
